Eagle Scout project: Using U.S. Army Chinook helicopters, my completed project removed 18 illegally dumped vehicles and 30 tons of trash from the Hunter Creek and Steamboat Ditch areas in Sierra foothills west of Reno. The impact this will have is to help lower the levels of metals and contaminants that flow into the Truckee River from the abandoned vehicles.  This will help reduce the risk to the endangered Cui-ui fish and threatened Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, other wildlife and the citizens of the Truckee Meadows, and help prevent further pollution of the Truckee River Basin, recover natural resources and facilitate the proper disposal of hazardous waste.
